From 14 January to 1 March 2020
The programming of the Garutti Cube is linked to the European project “Art Works! European Culture of Resistance and Liberation ” , born on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The exhibited works deal with the topics of the project and therefore reflect on artistic practices of contemporary resistance.
The works were selected together with the artist Alessandra Ferrini, invited by Museion to accompany a group of boys and girls in the path of reflection on the themes proposed by the project.
The triangular sculpture presented was created by Apparatus 22, a transdisciplinary artistic collective, founded in January 2011 in Bucharest. Three black leather flags are sewn together to form a sort of "silent poster". The material and the color also refer to a youthful subculture, which despite the “dark” aspect promotes a positive message. In fact, sculpture is not to be understood as an anti-flag or as a symbol of a failed action, but as a fruitful coexistence of divergent perspectives. Only three coordinated people can move it in space. Sculpture therefore becomes both a metaphor for the creative dynamics of the Romanian collective Apparatus 22, and an instrument that activates a reflection on the relationships, including those of power, that are established within a society.
