David Medalla: Parables of Friendship is the first major international exhibition dedicated to the work of the Filipino artist, poet and activist David Medalla after his sudden death in December 2020. Created by Museion together with the Bonner Kunstverein, which hosted the exhibition until to January 30, 2022 , and in close collaboration with the David Medalla Archive in Berlin, the exhibition recounts the vital legacy, spirit, energy and radicalism of the artist's practice.

Drawings, paintings, collages, sculptures, neon, works of kinetic, participatory and performance art created in over seventy years of career: alongside important loans and new commissions, Museion will exhibit many unpublished works and some fragile works, restored for the occasion and presented to the public for the first time, in an exhibition - curated by Steven Cairns and Fatima Hellberg with Bart van der Heide and with an installation by Michael Kleine Studio - which promises to be a milestone for the study of the work of this great and eclectic artist.

Medalla's work, characterized by absolute freedom of expression, explores the possibilities of exchange and intersection between art and life, mixing great themes of the present such as ecology, cultural identity, sexuality, work ethic , without ever worrying about the compartmentalisation implemented by the company.
