Museum for the Memory of Ustica

The Museum for the Memory of Ustica was created by the will of the Association of Relatives of the Victims of the Ustica Massacre, to remember the tragic event in which the 81 passengers on the flight died. The permanent installation , the work of French narrative art artist Christian Boltanski , surrounds the remains of the DC9 plane shot down on June 27, 1980, and is composed of 81 lights, mirrors and speakers, which emit whispered phrases, common and universal thoughts. in memory of the victims of the massacre.

Some black crates contain personal items that belonged to the passengers on the flight. A collection of photographs of these objects can be seen in the "List of personal belongings belonging to passengers of flight IH 870" .

The Museum for the Memory of Ustica is supported by: the Municipality of Bologna, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Province of Bologna, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation in Bologna.
