From 12 October to 18 February 2024
Dalla materia la luce , an exhibition curated by Luigi Codemo and Giovanni Gardini, with works by CaCO3 - a collective formed by Âniko Ferreira da Silva, opens on Wednesday 11 October at 6.00 pm , at the Raccolta Lercaro in via Riva di Reno 57, Bologna , Giuseppe Donnaloia and Pavlos Mavromatidis - and Davide Maria Coltro.
From matter to light is an artistic project that explores the theme of the mosaic investigated as a place of transformation: the matter arising from the depths of silicon becomes light and time manifests itself in the continuous change of reflections and flashes.
Light, movement, matter, time, colour: ancient mosaic art makes the categories of physical research its own. Thus the familiar epistemology proper to the sciences here manages to become a manifestation of the spiritual. The experience of light, in fact, touches the chords of interiority and becomes an existential necessity: the light welcomed and reflected by the mosaic reveals the richness and dignity of the material, elevates it to glory, to the manifestation of the whole in the reverberation of the fragment. The exhibition sees CaCO3 and Davide Maria Coltro involved in a close dialogue.
With CaCO3 the ancient mosaic technique opens up to new possibilities. In their works the tiles stretch beyond measure, abandoning the angularity of tradition and the rigor of the lines is contrasted with exasperated movements in which the light - the highest figure of their entire artistic gesture - is reflected, emanating unexpected and sudden flashes. Coltro's research, however, is aimed at electronic painting through the media framework or the use of technology that transforms pixels into tiles that manifest, in a continuous process of modification, the germination and majesty of color.
