From 18 October to 6 April 2026
In Bologna, at Palazzo Albergati, from October 18th, the exhibition "Forbidden Art" will be presented for the first time in the world.
It is a powerful, strong exhibition that will make people think and discuss, because the central theme is censorship.
Censorship has always existed in the history of art, from Ancient Egypt to our days. Degenerate Art was one of the most striking examples, but the theme recurs in every place and time. The reasons for censorship are mostly political, but also religious, social, sexual, and moral. Through the exhibition of over 50 works by great international artists from the Museu de l'Art Prohibit in Barcelona, each with its shocking story, the exhibition will address all of this. An exhibition that will confront visitors with necessary questions about freedom of expression, the role of artists in society, the role of art as a tool for denunciation and truth, certainly an exhibition that will not leave anyone indifferent.
The exhibition is organized by Arthemisia in collaboration with the Museu de l'Art Prohibit in Barcelona and curated by Carles Guerra with the scientific advice of Fabio Isman.
