The Mazzolini Collection Museum, inaugurated on 23 November 2015, is part of the museum complex which is located in the monumental rooms of the monastery of San Colombano. The exhibition is preceded by three rooms that tell the story of the collectors and the collection. The museum bears the name of Domenica Rosa Mazzolini, a nurse passionate about art, who donated nine hundred works of modern and contemporary art to the Diocese of Piacenza-Bobbio in 2005, expressing the desire to create a museum. In 2005 Domenica Rosa Mazzolini donated 899 works of contemporary art to the diocese of Piacenza-Bobbio, a substantial patrimony due to the merging into her personal collection of the huge collection inherited in 1994 upon the death of Fede, sister of the doctor Giovanni Battista Ettore Simonetti. The collection includes works by authoritative artists such as Enrico Baj, Renato Birolli, Carlo Carrà, Massimo Campigli, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Giorgio De Chirico, Filippo De Pisis, Ottone Rosai, Lucio Fontana, Achille Funi, Piero Manzoni, Mario Nigro, Giò Pomodoro, Mario Sironi, just to name a few. Some of the works are exhibited in a room of the Alberoni Gallery in Piacenza.
