The MUMA - Indian missionary museum of the Capuchin friars of Umbria in the Amazon is located in Assisi. The Museum was founded in 2011 and is dedicated to the Capuchin missionaries in Brazil, by the will of Father Luciano Matarazzi. The Friar was passionate about Amazonian art and during his stay in Brazil he collected a large number of works. Stuffed animals, musical instruments, masks, butterflies and various handicrafts are part of this nucleus. The exhibition is divided into different areas that correspond: to the history of the Capuchin missionaries in the Amazon, the history of the Rio Solimõnes and the native inhabitants of Indios Ticuna. The Museum now houses an interactive and multimedia exhibition section to allow for a sensory experience. The visit is a real journey to discover the Amazon. Here you can immerse yourself in the sounds, testimonies, objects and landscapes of the Brazilian region.
