The painting is one of the "four oval villages" depicting the properties of the Sacchetti family in the surroundings of Rome, created by Pietro da Cortona between 1632 and 1639. The same villa near the sea, located a few kilometers south of the papal capital, was It was built and decorated by the same Tuscan artist starting from 1623 by order of Cardinal Giulio Sacchetti, a close friend of Pope Urban VIII Barberini.
