I'm interested in painting. My stains are painting, but not as a sensitivity: they are a weight, a physical fact, the weight of a gesture that requires maximum concentration. For me it remains a problem of painting: in its essence. he watches them accept them dynamically, as energy, as an action. Painting, painting is a form of discontinuity, focuses attention on a moment that detaches the gesture, the action from the undifferentiated space. Concentration, discontinuity it cancels the space and invents its own different, discontinuous space, in turn. Gastini's spots appear for the first time in his work in the years 1969 - 1970 and give the artist's research new sources and capacity for development. "My work forces the other space to free itself". That space that is beyond the viewer's point of view and that the distribution of the spots, completely random, forces to reveal itself.
