This work also focuses on the reworking of classical architecture studied in Italy. From 1754 to 1765 Robert stayed at the Académie de France in Rome, where, alongside the practice of copying masterpieces and the nude, he studied the observation of nature in the Roman countryside. Giovanni Paolo Pannini from Piacenza was called as a teacher of perspective and had begun to introduce young people to the analysis of architecture and the landscape dotted with ancient fragments, creating a real genre that would also influence Robert, as shown in the painting in which he recalls models of Palladian architecture.
