After working on the reproduction of these works for almost ten years, the Liberation of St. Peter was the last engraving that Giovanni Volpato made for the series, leaving the Bolsena Mass to his now son-in-law Raffaello Morghen. Each plate bears the dedication to PIO SEXTO PONT. MAX.: the pope was shown the prints as they were being made.
