The instrument is made up of a sound box and a handle that ends in the box of pegs, decorated on the upper part by a carved frieze, called hedgehog. The sound box and the peg box are in different wood from that of the neck. On the upper part of the sound box there are two slots carved in the shape of an f. The instrument lacks the strings, the bridge, the structure to attach the strings and the fingerboard. The instrument carries a label inside the sound box with the words ”IPIALL“ Antonio Stradivari ”/ Maestro E. Vaia / Pupil G. Aitkem / 1991 / Italy IPIALL Cremona”.
