This cup was made over 3,700 years ago in pure alluvial gold with great craftsmanship and a high level of technology, to obtain an object of great ritual value. It was then hit with an ax to be defunctionalized and later buried probably with a votive intent: this hypothesis is reinforced by the comparison with the few other similar objects found in Europe, also deformed and intentionally buried.
