The state of extreme wear of the marble surface, also characterized by the presence of numerous chips, allows us to barely recognize the physiognomic features of the portrait: a man with a sharp face, with a high forehead, left uncovered by a high tuft of hair, and deeply sunken eyes . The general structure of the portrait, in particular the shape of the face and the arrangement of the hair, recalls some sculptures of the Augustan age, suggesting a possible dating to this period.
