Grubb (Dublin) wire micrometer, works at the end of the large Cooke equatorial telescope. The gilded brass instrument has two parallel and equal micrometric screws, each of which carries a frame with wires. The lighting of the field and of the wires is given by an electric bulb embedded in a suitable cavity on the side of the frames. Originally the micrometer was equipped with positive eyepieces with amplification from 200 to 1500.
