A rare bilateral gynandromorph specimen of Lasiocampa quercus is preserved in the Hartig collection. Gynandromorphy consists in the simultaneous presence in the same individual of male and female parts. Often this teratology is mosaic but in the specimen in question it is bilateral: the right half of the moth is male, while the left half is female.
