The sword handle comes from the outfit of one of the five tombs belonging to high-ranking personalities found near the town of Trezzo sull'Adda (Milan) between 1976 and 1978. The handle is characterized by a double intertwined ring, with probable references to a magical cultic meaning and a knob decorated with interweaving of fantastic animals. The weapon, an object of great value that is compared with examples documented in the European area, characterizes the burials of warriors. The grave goods also consisted of offense and defense weapons, elements of military clothing, a ring, a solid belonging to the Emperor Phocas (602-610), a pair of golden crosses and a buckle, displayed in the same display case.
