Description

From Scoglio del Tonno (Taranto). A fragment of a handle with an animal protome in the Serra d'Alto style. The site, excavated by Quintino Quagliati in 1899, was located on the outskirts of Taranto on a promontory destroyed during the construction of the port. The settlement had a continuity of occupation from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age.
