Clasp from the 5th century BC, of Celtic manufacture, found in San Polo d’Enza (Reggio Emilia). The base is decorated with a row of small circles and a fretwork decoration with a human figure and swamp birds: it represents the ancient Mediterranean iconography of the Lord of the animals, which alluded to an intermediary figure between man and the natural world . This type of belt buckle was likely used for hanging the sword at the hip, suggesting the presence of foreign mercenaries.
