Portable pharmacies were used by apothecaries or doctors when traveling or for urgent interventions on the sick who could not be transported. In some cases they were also used by wealthy people who, leaving for long journeys, did not forget to bring with them their travel pharmacy which contained glass bottles with medicines inside, accompanied by the relative leaflet.
