The crater was a vessel used to mix water and wine at banquets. This crater, dating back to the 4th century BC. and coming from Altamura, in Puglia, it has scrolls decorated with masks depicting Medusa. On one side two male characters are depicted inside a small temple, one of whom brings an offering to the deceased, seated and armed. Outside the temple are a naked young man and a female figure with a mirror and a wreath.
