The Civic Museum of Ceramics of Ariano Irpino was founded in 1991. The Museum is housed in Palazzo Forte and in the former San Giacomo Hospital. In 2015 the educational center of the Civic and Ceramics Museum was born with an unprecedented museum itinerary with structures and materials that allow you to know the fundamental phases of the realization of the ceramic artefact. The collection consists of over 250 ceramics to tell the ancient art that mixes water, fire, earth and air with the colors and the skill of the Arianese potters. In fact, the city is known throughout Italy for its precious ceramics and skilful manufacturing. A rich collection of majolica traces the ceramist history from the fourteenth century to the mid-twentieth century. Of great interest are the eighteenth-century ceramics with majolica, anthropomorphic and zoomorphic lamps, jugs and flasks, salt cellars, hand warmers and large plates. The museum of ceramics - educational and scientific center is like an illustrated and narrative guide between art and fire.
