At 10.30 am at the multimedia hall of Castel del Monte there will be a presentation of the text by Massimilano Ambruoso entitled "Castel del Monte - history and myth", published by Edipuglia (2018) as part of the series of Mediterranean historical studies.
In the book the author tries to give a scientifically correct answer to the many questions that have arisen over time around the famous Federician building. Why was it made with an octagonal plan? What was its function? Was it a simple defensive castle or an esoteric box? Or even a temple for body care? With a preface by Francesco Violante, the text represents the most advanced point of the historiographical debate on the Andriese manor. You can buy it in the bookshop inside Castel del Monte.
The presentation of the book is organized by Nova Apulia, a concessionary company of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities for the integrated management of services in the Castles and in the State Museums in Puglia, in collaboration with the Association of the Study Center Normanno-Svevi. The director of Castel del Monte, dott.sa Elena Saponaro, the president of the Association of the Norman-Swabian Studies Center, Francesco Violante, as well as the author of the book, Massimiliano Ambruoso, will take part in the event. The same will follow a guided tour on a theme led by a guide of the Nova Apulia dealer, which will resume the contents of the text itself.
The event is open to school groups and anyone interested in the history of the castle with reservations required for both the presentation of the book and for the visit.
