In the heart of Amsterdam's canal belt is the Museum Van Loon, a beautiful residential house designed in 1672 by architect Adriaen Dortsman. The first resident was the painter Ferdinand Bol, a pupil of Rembrandt. The interior of the house still exudes the atmosphere of the wealth that the city experienced at that time.
In the rooms you will find portraits, beautiful furniture, silverware and porcelain from different centuries. Behind the house there is a beautiful garden. The garden is in the seventeenth-century style and is closed by the beautiful gabled wall of the coach house. A unique ensemble that you will not find anywhere else in these original conditions. If you want to have a look behind the facades of the world famous canal belt, you should definitely visit the museum.
In addition to the permanent arrangement of the house, garden and carriage house, the Van Loon Museum also organizes temporary exhibitions. The exhibitions always start from a part of the collection, from the home or from the history of the Van Loon family. The museum programs within the heritage, art history and contemporary art program lines. Our current schedule can be found here.
