ARCHEOMudi:

Guided tours with the archaeologist

18 July 2026

Diocesan Museum of Alba

P.zza Rossetti (ingresso dal campanile della cattedrale), Alba

Closed today: open tomorrow at 15:00

On the occasion of the Days for the enhancement of the ecclesiastical cultural heritage promoted by the National Office for Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage and Worship Buildings of the Italian Episcopal Conference, on May 10, 2026, the MUDI - Diocesan Museum is organizing ArcheoMUDI a thematic guided tour in the company of a professional archaeologist. The tour will focus on the discovery of the Roman remains of Alba Pompeia, preserved in the museum, and on the tombs recently restored thanks to the skilled work of "La Bottegaccia Restauri". The visit will be an opportunity to delve into the themes related to discoveries in the cathedral from the 2007-2008 excavations. Continuing the theme of the Days for enhancement, "Resonances of Holiness," the archaeologist will conclude the tour with a focus on the double bell tower of the Cathedral as a form of public archaeology. In this perspective, archaeology is not only interpreted as a discipline dedicated to the study of material culture and architectural stratification but as a participatory social practice.
The tour will take place in two shifts, at 3:30 PM and at 5:00 PM, and due to space constraints, it will be limited to a maximum of 15 participants.
