On the occasion of the patronal feast of the city of Alba, the Diocesan Museum organizes special guided tours with insights into the history of San Lorenzo, a martyr of the 3rd century. During the afternoon of August 10, the Mudi will be open for visits from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.In the evening at 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm, during The Night of San Lorenzo, two guided tours will be organized on the Romanesque bell tower of the Cathedral. In the complex architectural history of the cathedral, the presence of the 12th-century bell tower is already a remarkable element, which becomes even more extraordinary if you have the opportunity to discover the internal structure: a second tower dating back to the late 10th century is in fact enclosed by the walls of the external bell tower. The guides of the Diocesan Museum offer you the opportunity to discover the surprising bell tower structure, guiding you through a guided tour through the history of the Cathedral up to 45 meters in height. Climbing the steps between the walls of the two bell towers, you reach the top of the ancient tower and from there the city of Alba reveals its nocturnal and romantic side, precisely during the "Night of the Falling Stars," offering a spectacular view of the rooftops of the historic center, the medieval towers, and the surrounding hills of Langhe and Roero, from sunset until evening.Reservation is mandatory due to the limited number of available seats.
