MACA - Museum of Contemporary Art is located in the historic center of the city of Acri, in the province of Cosenza. The Museum was inaugurated in 2006 and is spread over 30 exhibition rooms. The collection consists of 237 works that were donated by the artist Silvio Vigliaturo to the museum. The Museum houses the collection of one of the most important international glass-fusion artists. The works were created by Vigliaturo during the course of his artistic activity. Sculptures, paintings and drawings make up the museum collection that retrace the fundamental stages of Silvio Vigliaturo's artistic research. The heart of the exhibition is a large installation created by the artist called "Battle outside the walls". The museum is not only the container of the works of Silvio Vigliaturo, but it is a place of research and enhancement of contemporary art. In recent years the collection has been enriched with a series of 66 graphics by great Italian artists of the twentieth century. Among the most important artists are: De Chirico, Morlotti, Scanavino, Nespolo, Schifano, Luigi Le Voci, Giovanni Cataldi, Francesco Guerrieri and Fritz Baungartner. The museum is now home to temporary exhibitions, seminars, conferences, workshops and educational workshops. The goal is to create a meeting center especially for young people.
