The Fortress of Acquaviva Picena is located on the hill of the homonymous city, in the province of Ascoli Piceno. The Rocca has been declared a national monument since 1902. The building was built in the fourteenth century by a noble family from Acquaviva to be a defensive and residential structure. Rebuilt according to the project of the Florentine architect Baccio Pontelli, the Fortress has an irregular quadrilateral-shaped plan, with towers of different consistencies at the vertices, in relation to the orography of the land on which they overlooked, as well as the risks of 'external attacks. The Fortress is now home to temporary exhibitions, cultural events and a multimedia museum. The Museum reconstructs the history and the original architecture of the fortress. Thanks to 3D films, high-resolution photos, presentation trailers, it is possible to make a 360-degree tour of the Rocca. Of great value is the historical re-enactment of the marriage of Forasteria degli Acquaviva and Rinaldo dei Brunforte. Inside the medieval fortress in a setting of braziers, torches, music, songs, medieval dances, fires and fires of the Fortress, you can taste the specialties of Acquaviva.
