Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation - SS. Cosma and Damiano

SS. Cosma e Damiano is located in Venice and is part of the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation .

The former Convent of Saints Cosma and Damiano on Giudecca is a vast complex that the Municipality of Venice was granted in concession by the Civil Property in the mid-nineties. With a radical restoration and restructuring operation that lasted almost five years, in addition to the destinations of public residence, 12 craft workshops, 4 large rooms of about 400 square meters with related office and service spaces have been obtained.

In addition, the large fifteenth-century cloister and a garden have been recovered for collective use. It was an experimental intervention, perhaps unique in Italy, with which we try to bring together and interact, on the side of public enhancement, craft, cultural and exhibition production activities, in line with the new identity that is assuming the Giudecca island. The large workshops located around the porch of the cloister host the activities of small businesses of artistic craftsmanship: metalworking, glass decoration, production of essences and perfumes, graphics, production and decoration of paper, book binding and restoration, art of the mask , and forms of contemporary craftsmanship linked to new information technologies.
