The show

A large exhibition, designed by Antonio Marras anticipates the opening of the Ethnographic Section of the National Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum "Giovanni Antonio Sanna" in Sassari . The exhibition, which opens on June 18, will remain on display for an entire year and occupies the space of the so-called Clemente Pavilion. The project is financed with a contribution from the Foundation of Sardinia (donation) for the support, promotion, enhancement and conservation of the regional cultural heritage.

On display is a selection of the immense ethnographic heritage (clothes, clothes, jewels, artistic artifacts) of the Museum together with archaeological finds and evidence of modern and contemporary art, to propose a dialogue between ancient origins, tradition and current events, between memory and here I'm.

“The idea of the exhibition stems from the desire to enhance this rich heritage, whose main nucleus is constituted by the donation of Cav. Gavino Clemente. The museum's ethnographic collection is not only the oldest in Sardinia but also one of the richest on the island in terms of quantity and variety of finds ”explains the director Dr. Elisabetta Grassi . Without prejudice to the museographic criteria and the needs linked to the optimal conservation of the materials, Marras had a free hand in enhancing the finds.

“Mediterranean, Phoenician, Punic, Byzantine, Arab, Catalan, Spanish, French, etc. influences. they make us who we are, in language, thoughts and clothing. The Sardinian costume fascinated and fascinated by the extraordinary variety, by the structural, decorative, chromatic elements and by its meaning of ethnic identification ”, concludes Antonio Marras .
