CAMERA - Italian Center for Photography announces “Martin Parr. We love Sports ", the great autumn exhibition that will feature an absolute myth of contemporary photography. The exhibition will be held in collaboration with Gruppo Lavazza, institutional partner and historical supporter of CAMERA and with Magnum Photos, on the occasion of the Nitto ATP Finals and will be held in Turin from 28 October 2021 to 13 February 2022 in via delle Rosine 18. "Martin Parr. We love Sports ", curated by Walter Guadagnini with the collaboration of Monica Poggi, will retrace the career of the famous English author (born in 1952), member of Magnum Photos, through about 150 images dedicated to various sporting events, with a thematic focus focused on shots taken by Parr - commissioned by the Lavazza Group - on the occasion of the most important tennis tournaments in recent years. Attentive interpreter of the present, since the beginning Parr has portrayed contemporary society with ruthless and amused irony, creating images that have become true icons of our time. Through the sharp color contrasts that characterize his style, he revealed the grotesque and involuntarily comic aspects of an increasingly consumerist and globalized world. "Sport is a recurring theme in Parr's long career: catalyst of the most diverse emotions, it is told by the photographer above all through the uniforms, choreographies and traditions of the fans and spectators, authentic protagonists of this collective ritual" highlights Walter Guadagnini, Director of CAMERA.
