The show

IN FABULA. Restored masterpieces from the Bigongiari collection opens in the headquarters of the Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi until 25 September 2022.

The exhibition offers the public a cross-section of exemplary Florentine painting of the seventeenth century, thanks to a nucleus of newly restored paintings from the collection of Piero Bigongiari, a well-known poet and man of letters who over the course of forty years had gathered a collection of paintings from the seventeenth century in Florence . extraordinary for quality, importance of the artists, interest in the iconographic themes depicted and relevance of the commissions. The collection in 2004 was acquired by the Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia and Pescia, today Intesa Sanpaolo.

On show ten works , whose restorations have been made by Intesa Sanpaolo .  IN FABULA , articulated in the museum spaces d And The ground floor and the first floor of the Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi , allows you to rediscover through the ten paintings, the novelty items emerged during the restorations and the link between the works and the collector .

IN FABULA and for Pistoia Museums a declaration of intent e it is part of a larger process than res t itution to the territory and to society Pistoiese of these masterpieces . The exhibition itinerary is divided into nine rooms .

Among the artists on display are: Francesco Furini, Felice Ficherelli, Giovanni Martinelli, Simone Pignoni.
