The show

An exhibition which, through some important loans from the Uffizi in Florence, the Royal Museums of Turin and the BPER collection, presents the Mannerist painter in Brescia in an unpublished and "sacred" version, compared to his more famous "profane" fame.

A painting "lost and found", a new attribution to Gambara confirmed also thanks to a recent restoration.

A Brescia Museums Foundation project, curated by Marco Tanzi.

The recent purchase by the Brescia Musei Foundation of an altarpiece for the collection of the Tosio Martinengo Art Gallery brings with it an unprecedented attribution to Lattanzio Gambara (1530-1574) and becomes an opportunity for a new exhibition project, to rediscover a painter who was able to combine the most advanced researches of Mannerism with local traditions.

The sense of the new. Lattanzio Gambara, Mannerist painter, curated by Marco Tanzi, is an exhibition-dossier that tells the eclectic personality of the master from Brescia: from his production of frescoes with profane subjects (torn from the houses of Corso Palestro in Brescia) to the works, less known , of a sacred subject, including Lamentation over the Dead Christ with Saints Bartholomew and Paul (about 1570-74), purchased by the Brescia Musei Foundation at the beginning of 2021 and now, for the first time, presented to the public.
