Accorsi-Ometto Museum of Decorative Arts

The Accorsi-Ometto Museum of Decorative Arts represents the dream come true of the antiques dealer Pietro Accorsi (1891-1982) who, in his will, bequeathed his assets to a cultural foundation to promote the taste for antique furniture and knowledge of figurative art from the Middle Ages to the nineteenth century. The institution's statutory task is to conserve, enhance and communicate the heritage of furnishings and art objects entrusted to it by its founder and increased by his successor Giulio Ometto (1942-2019), in over 20 years of presidency.

The Museum, which for more than sixty years was home to Accorsi's gallery, today presents itself as a house furnished with extraordinary richness. The exhibition itinerary is divided into 25 rooms : eight are set up as they were in Villa Paola, the residence on the Turin hill, where Accorsi used to invite his guests. Absolute masterpieces are displayed inside them, such as the double body and the chest of drawers by the surprising Turin cabinetmaker Pietro Piffetti (1701-1777).

The other rooms, designed by Giulio Ometto following the example of Accorsi's taste, preserve countless objects: from 18th century European porcelain , to Piedmontese silver and majolica , to objects mounted in gilded bronze and paintings .
