The show

Giacomo De Vito was born in 1976 in Milan.

In 2006 he graduated in illustration from the IED, the European Design Institute. As for the works, an interest in cubism and expressionism, remaining characterized by a spontaneity that preserves the brutality of inspiration. In 2010 the first personal exhibition was held, entitled "Maschere e Trasfigurazioni", curated by Françoise Calcagno, while in 2012 she participated in "Lo Stato dell'Arte", Padiglione Italia, Biennale di Venezia, a treatment by Vittorio Sgarbi with the presentation by Jean Blanchaert. The techniques used are acrylic and oil pastel, used both on paper and on canvas. De Vito's language favors bright, harsh, anti-naturalistic colors, volumes with heavy contours, the result of an aggressive, irregular, deformed sign. Disharmonies and alterations are a primitive, rough, perturbed aspect, aimed at expressing one's own interiority without edulcoration or idealizations. In 2018 the "Burning the house" exhibition at the Gliacrobati Gallery in Turin, curated by Francesco Sena. In the most recent series of works the artist also uses the collage technique, superimposing various types of fabrics on the painting. Giacomo De Vito lives and works in Turin.
