Fondazione Pastificio Cerere

The Pastificio Cerere Foundation

The Foundation Pastificio Ceres was born in Rome in 2004 by the will of its president, Flavio Misciattelli, with the aim of promoting and spreading the art contemporanea.Nel 2005 inaugurated the headquarters inside what was once the pasta factory Ceres, a former pasta factory built in 1905 and was active until the second World war. Since the seventies, the disused factory was spontaneously repopulated by artists, who have decided to establish their studies: places to live to live a daily experimentation. Over the years, even critics, intellectuals and representatives of the entertainment industry have gravitated to this hotbed become a reference point for culture in general. In an effort to preserve this great heritage, the Foundation has primarily allowed users to freely access one deputy space to contemporary art through a rich choice of meetings, exhibitions and workshops - to encourage interaction between contemporary artistic languages and testing of new methods of intervention and participation, stimulating an open dialogue with the city and involving an increasingly diverse audience. Since 2011, with his appointment as artistic director Marcello Smarrelli, the Foundation has developed an increasingly marked interest in artistic practices more related to cultural and territorial policy issues, projects of public art and participatory, innovative educational programs, through the establishment of scholarships for residences addressed to young artists and curators and activities for students belonging to diverse age groups. In December 2018, the Foundation expanded its rooms, inaugurating the space Molini, proceeds from the recovery of the mill Pastificio Ceres. Today, crossing the threshold of this majestic building we immediately have the impression of being in an attractive location, engaging and inclusive. A rare example of a private space became spontaneously, thanks to the presence of the artists, the contemporary workshop, a cultural hub where research, innovation and experimentation are intertwined considerably with the history of the city and interact with public, private and cultural institutions from all over the world.
