The show

The two projects offer novel narratives and points of view on the relationship between man and nature, relating elements traditionally distant from each other, through the conceptual framework of the archive.

The exhibition presents the photographic projects Concrete by Nicola di Giorgio and Blue Diamond by Rachele Maistrello , winners of the VIII and VII edition of the Graziadei Prize respectively.

Different in method and outcomes, the two projects find continuity in the interrogation of photographic language and its ability to document: by exploiting the conceptual framework of the archive as a device for classification and production of meaning, the two authors have given shape to projects that shy away from univocal narratives, opening wide spaces for interpretation and critical reflection.

Nicola Di Giorgio focuses on an artificial material, concrete, from which it is possible to explore the traces of the presence of man on the territory, which at times takes shape in the masterpieces of contemporary architecture, while at others it manifests itself in forms of speculation building. The perception of the physical and emotional landscape is deepened by the artist thanks to the construction of a personal collection of documents and archival materials, linked by the author's photographic investigation.

Rachele Maistrello develops the narrative undertaken with the previous project, Green Diamond, continuing the story of the acrobat Gao Yue, to create a poetic and visual apparatus aimed at deepening the possibilities of communication between humans and cetaceans. The artist continues to play with the liminarity between true and false, historical archive and science fiction, reliability and ambiguity of the photographic language, this time offering the opportunity to get in touch with unpublished scientific sources and materials.
