The show

The exhibition, set up in the Sale dei Sette Colli and di Venere, on the noble floor of Villa Giulia, will be open until January 16, 2022.

Already home to the "Acqua" exhibition in Autumn 2019, in which the artist had measured himself with the environmental emergency, the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia returns to become a treasure chest of the artistic creations of Oreste Baldini: a spectacular cycle of works on the topic of Plastic Free, his further study on a highly topical issue. Among the works on display, powerful sculptures with fish suffocated by plastic rise, provocative and denouncing, as an imposing warning to reduce our environmental impact and as a metaphor, more vivid than ever in this time marked by the pandemic, of psychic and physical constraints in which Man is caged and among which he struggles in search of a way out.

Drawing attention to the need for environmental protection and the cultural and landscape heritage, respect for the Earth and Nature, a feeling deeply rooted in the Etruscan culture and disseminated in many testimonies of the permanent museum collection, is one of the many tasks of a cultural institution that takes care of the past to pass it on to future generations.

"The urgency of the message flows rapidly and incisively in his talented hands as a painter and sculptor and the image of the poisoned waters then takes shape and concreteness in the material in which it is eternal, the durable bronze (four" Lische "and eight" Mari ", to which is added the splendid mosaic in stones, marbles and gold tesserae that embody the Pacific Ocean), while the visions of the sea currents that draw the routes of the plastic are imprinted on sixteen poignant panels painted in mixed media with studied colors and drag us into the deep abysses where sea creatures, trapped in plastic bags, wriggle and succumb ". (Maria Paola Guidobaldi, in the Catalog of the Exhibition, ed. Sillabe).
