Geography Museum

The Geography Museum is located in the historic center of Padua and is part of the University Museums of the University of Padua. The Museum of Geography invites the visitor to discover the charm and strength of geography, a discipline that has always been animated by the desire for discovery and knowledge of the world through the continuous comparison between methods of natural and social sciences. Characterized by pieces of great value, the Geography collections represent a precious testimony of the research and teaching activities carried out at the University of Padua in the field of geography from the nineteenth century to today and tell the fascinating developments of geographical thought, from determinism to the cultural turn. Through tools, maps, globes, models and photographs, the Museum proposes a journey divided into three stages, summarized in the key words: Explore, Measure, Tell. The displays present and enhance the connection between past research and current events, involving visitors of all ages in a dialogue that is still deliberately open. Today the Museum has among its activities the safeguarding and enhancement of tangible and intangible heritage through projects, paths and dissemination initiatives.
