National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa

The National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa is a railway museum and is located between Naples and Portici .

The Museum was born in 1989 inside the royal Bourbon factory of Pietrarsa which was originally a steam locomotive industry. The Museum houses steam, three-phase electric, direct current, diesel locomotives, passenger carriages, electromotors and railcars . The main pavilion tells the story of the first railway network of Naples - Portici .

In the National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa there are the famous steam locomotives in series with the statue of Ferdinand II of Bourbon, thanks to which the company was founded. The other pavilions collect the old machinery and objects used during the company activity. Of great importance is certainly the carriage - hall of the Savoy train , as well as the personal train of the royal family.

Also of interest is the botanical garden with plants from all over the world. The National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa allows an unprecedented journey through time thanks to the possibility of arriving at the museum by historical train and reliving the first Italian railway. In addition, the first Italian Bayard locomotive in augmented reality has recently been installed.
