The Steam Factory was born in 1899, during the period of industrialization in Italy, that saw the scene the city of Milan. Originally the factory was the site of a major repair companies tram carriages and rolling stock production called Carminati Tosselli. During the period between the two World Wars, the Company underwent a shutdown of commercial and economic consequence. Until 1935, when due to the rise fascist society began a period of stalemate that within the brief led to a real crisis. The company maintained its original appearance and with the intervention of the City of Milan was used for cultural events, fashion shows and as a movie set. Today the name "Steam Factory" brings back memories of its original business function. In the exhibition rooms are set up temporary contemporary art exhibitions that come into contact with the industrial archeology.
