Civic Photographic Archive of Milan, founded in 1933 to Castello Sforzesco, è Today one of the più important Italian institutions dedicated to the conservation and enhancement of photographic heritage. The photographic heritage, consisting of 850,000 original photographs, dating from 1840 to the present day,è representative of all photographic techniques experimented between Eight and century and of’ activityà the leading photographers including Nadar, Adolphe Braun, Franz Hanfstaengl, Brogi and Alinari of Florence; photographers  They worked in Europe and the various territories of the’ Ottoman Empire to Chinese and Japan photographers century Emilio Sommariva, Antonio Paoletti, Mario Perotti. the different photographic collections range from the history of art-historical Milan and Lombardy heritage, urban and social history of Milan, portraiture, reportage on different historical events, including the Roman Republic in 1849, and the uprisings of 1898, the Italian landscape, views of the cityà Europe and beyond, from’ Ottoman Empire, all’ India, China and Japan.
