The show

"Chaosmos disseminazioni / armonie / epifanie", the next exhibition organized by the Museo della Permanente, invites Renato Galbusera, Giovanni Mattio, Armanda Verdirame to talk.

On Tuesday 12 November, at 18.00, the three artists, members of the institution and members of the Artistic Commission in office between 2018 and 2019, present to the public recently produced works: a selection of twenty works, including paintings, sculptures and installations that they freely dialogue with each other.

Chaos and cosmos interpenetrate - as in the novel Finnegans Wake by James Joyce, where the term was coined for the first time - and give life to a kaleidoscope of images in which beginning and end alternate without interruption. From the mystery enclosed in the seeds of the earth to the primordial seeds, from the depths of the sky to the story of heroic existences, here and now, suspended between dream and reality, the artists carry out their investigation with tireless vigor and rigor, recovering fragments of possible truths, tracing an ideal conjunction between finite and infinite, between the arcane of time and the present that pulsates under the skin of becoming.

Renato Galbusera presents great works on paper, made of solid objects and figures, which give an apocalyptic and monumental breath, like the Mexican muralists and Mario Sironi, to which the artist certainly looked. The artistic research of Giovanni Mattio takes inspiration from reality to venture into the territories of abstraction, with a care for detail and an attention to the chromatic quality, which projects us into a parallel cosmos. Armanda Verdirame works with clay and creates sculptures, as if they were finds from mysterious and distant worlds, inserting us, then, seeds or small furrows, which allude to fragments of terrestrial reality.

Renato Galbusera
He was born in Milan in 1950, and graduated from the Art School and the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera where he was the holder of the Chair of Painting. Starting from the end of the 1970s he participated in various exhibitions in Italy and abroad. From the beginning of the 2000s, his interest in Public Art and in particular muralism in the works of artists such as Siqueiros, Rivera, Orozco and Sironi became more marked. This particular interest materializes in the realization of mural works (Atri, Calcio) and large format works on different supports (MT 25 - 2014 - mt.2x25 tm on scaffolding canvas).

Giovanni Mattio
He was born in Cuneo in 1949. After completing his degree in classical literature, he added to his humanistic studies an intense research in the field of figurative arts. Since 1986 he has been present in personal exhibitions, fairs, exhibitions, in Italy, France, Germany. Since 1989 he lives and works in Milan. With the new millennium, research extends to the volumes and shapes of painted surfaces: extractions, introflections, monitors, lozenges, petals, puzzles, addition sculptures, installations are born. Other materials come to the surface combined with color, in a search away, away, more plastic, but always characterized by an intense chromatic timbre.

Armanda Verdirame
She was born in Novara, but has always lived in Milan where she completed her studies. In the eighties, when she became aware of the environmental emergency that still haunts us today, she denounced the problem through the use of only natural materials that she was exploring. Thus came to the manipulation of the clay, inserting in the earth seeds of grasses and cereals, small furrows and reliefs that trace the memory of the threatened nature and denounce the drama of the ecological alarm.
