from 5 October 2019 to 1 March 2020 Palazzo Ducale presents the exhibition "Twenties in Italy. The age of uncertainty". A path that winds through the rooms of the Appartamento del Doge with about 100 works and intends to propose a fascinating investigation, focused on the historical, political, social and cultural complexity of the decade and on the impact that its main characteristics exercised on aesthetic researches of the time, in particular on pictorial and plastic production. The twenties represented, in fact, a crucial phase of transition between the trauma of the Great War - which involved, among other things, the collapse of certainties and optimism that had permeated the first decade of the new century - and the world crisis of the following decade. A crisis that, announced by the Wall Street crash in October 1929 and followed by the progressive affirmation on the international chessboard of dictatorial regimes, ended with a new, even more tragic conflict.
