The Emigration Museum Cavasso Nuovo is located in the historic center of the city of Friuli in the province of Pordenone. The Museum was inaugurated in September 2000 in the historic Palazzo Polcenigo - Fanna. The Palace is one of the most important buildings in the area for its architectural grandeur halfway between a palace and a castle. The entire collection and rotates around the professionalism and exposure to widespread professions in the alpine and pre Friuli area. The collection includes 400 photographs, objects and documents divided into twelve sections. The exhibition tells the story of flows and migratory destinations of the Western Friuli workers. The causes and modes of flows, migration networks, the information channels, the points of departure, the journey, the places of arrival, the entrepreneurial vocation, the encounter with the New World, the return, the female migration and management of foreign communities are some of the complex issues that meander through the museum. The museum collection is enriched by exposure of documents and graphics related to the Cavasso Design School. The exposed graphic material, which highlights the wise use of the techniques of drawing, is derived from the selection of a much larger amount of material collected at the disposal of additional researchers. The museum houses a library open to researchers and scholars.
